Dr. Charles (Chuck) Klink has worked for forty years in student affairs.  Currently, Dr. Klink serves as the Senior Vice Provost for Student Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University.  The division encompasses 16 student serving departments and 4 administrative support units with over 250 employees and a budget of approximately 70 million dollars.

A psychologist by training, Dr. Klink came to VCU in 2001 as Director of University Counseling Services and was promoted to an Assistant Vice Provost in 2006 and Associate Vice Provost in 2010. He was appointed Interim Vice Provost in 2014 and selected as Vice Provost in 2016 after a national search. In 2017, Dr. Klink was promoted to Senior Vice Provost. Dr. Klink is a member of the president’s cabinet, the provost’s executive group and senior leadership team as well as numerous university committees.
Prior to his arrival at VCU, Dr. Klink held a variety of positions in Student Affairs and Athletics during his eighteen-year tenure at The Ohio State University. At Ohio State he served as an Associate Director/Clinical Director for University Counseling Services, Senior Staff Psychologist, Athletic Departments Substance Abuse Counselor, Disability Support Services Counselor, Residence Life and Housing Area Coordinator, Residence Life and Housing Hall Director, Career Counselor, and Assistant Hall Director.

Dr. Klink began his student affairs career working in residential life and new student orientation at a small, private, liberal arts college in Northern Indiana. He has served on threat assessment teams for the last twenty-seven years and currently co-chairs the VCU team.
Dr. Klink received both his M.A. in Counseling and Guidance and Ph.D. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and his B.A. in Elementary Education from Goshen College. He is the father of two college graduates, and a college junior.
